A Week of Learning: We have been busy with . . . CHRISTMAS! Counting and writing the number of days until Christmas, making Christmas ornaments, cards and presents. Our Bible time is also centered around the Christmas Story. God loved the world so much that He gave His Son to save us from the punishment of our sins. All along, God knew what needed to be done. He had a plan. We are excited to share our Christmas Program with you on Dec. 19. Every day we practice our songs and skills: Remember to keep eyes on the leader, sing strong (but not yelling), and smile. Yes, that is hard work but so much fun.
Coming Up:
FRIDAY – Return class library book if needed.
Thur Dec 18= Class gift exchange and party. (Please let me know if you have any questions about the gift exchange. Christmas buddies: Clyde & Colter, Dean & Kasen, Ember & Lily). We were also invited to enjoy lunch with the grandmas and grandpas of First Lutheran Church. (O.W.L.S- Older Wiser Loving Saints). No need to pack snack or lunch on this day!
Fri Dec 19 @ 11:00= FLS welcomes you, family and friends to our Christmas Program!
Children are invited to wear their “Christmas Best” for the program.

(Reprinted from “Love and Logic”.) Thanksgiving is a time for expressing our thankfulness. We encourage kids to be thankful for the things they have. Learning to give thanks throughout the rest of the year is just as important for many reasons.
THANKFULNESS IS GOOD FOR OUR BRAINS- Researchers have learned that thankfulness can be more than just a polite duty. It is also good for our mental health. Practicing thankfulness can reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. It contributes to increasing our sense of happiness. If we focus on thankfulness, we can wire our brains to notice more things to feel thankful about, which will cause us to feel better. We might not be able to control events, but we can control our attitude toward those events.
MODELING- When parents and teachers model genuine thankfulness, we benefit the mental health of our children. Kids learn by seeing how we act. If kids regularly hear us expressing thankfulness for our many blessings, they will learn to express genuine thankfulness. And everyone’s brain will benefit!
With A Thankful Heart,
