We have Authors!

We have authors! This week saw the 2nd graders planning, mapping, publishing, and illustrating their first stories of the year. First graders are learning how to read more advanced books by themselves. In Religion we have been delving onto the Old Testament, discussing the life and times of Noah, Issac, Jacob, and most recently Joseph. I am blown away by the insight that this class has!

Last Chance Community Pow Wow

On Friday, September 30th the Kindergarten through sixth grade will be going to the Last Chance community Pow Wow for their demonstration day at the Lewis and Clark County Fairgrounds. We will start to load at 9:20 and should be back at school by 1:30. Permission slips came home Thursday, and we need them back by Tuesday, September 27th. Thank you to Aleigha’s Mom and Nicklas’s Dad for volunteering to drive. Please remember car seats for your child. We will not be having pizza that day. Please pack a lunch that does not need to be heated and a drink.

Capital City Health Club

We will need drivers on the next Friday, October 7th as we will make our first trip of the year to Capital City Health Club. Permission slips for this trip will be coming home Monday. Drivers need to be here at 12:45.

Field Trip Volunteers

For those that are volunteering to drive for our fieldtrips, we need a copy of your driver’s license and vehicle registration. We will keep it on file for the year, then shred the information at the end of the year.

FLS Silent Auction and Luau

The First Lutheran Silent Auction and Luau is coming up on Friday, October 14th. The classroom silent auction basket theme will be “Christmas table settings”. I am donating a set of bowls to put food in. I have a line on the donation of a ham. The students will be making placemats. I need each family to bring an item that would compliment these items. Some suggestions would be candles, napkins, a gift certificate for some baked goods, other table decorations, wine glasses, bottle of wine, etc. Items can either be purchased, or you can use the donation letter that came home last week and ask a business to donate an item for our basket. I need all items to the classroom no later than November 7th. This is a great way to get some volunteer time in. If you spend time getting donations items from a business that will count towards time. Helping to set up, clean up, organize the donations, etc also count as volunteer hours.
